Cool As...

Have you ever wondered where phrases like 'Cool as a cucumber', 'cool as the other side of the pillow' or 'cool cat' come from? We think about these things a lot, and can only imagine what the creators of such phrases were doing or witnessing when coming up with them. To be honest, a lot of euphemisms like this are silly, and don't seem to have much thought put into them. Just something different to consider as you go about your day.

Where else can you find or create a phrase that ensapsulates a topic, emotion, or experience in a metaphor? Even if you have a hard time creating one, what other phrases exist like these that can sum up a thought almost immediately? Now, I'm holding your feet to the fire (even if you had cold feet) to think outside-of-the-box.
