Yes, February 2nd (2/2) is literally Groundhog Day, which is today. Although the groundhog won't have a chance to see his shadow because we are in the middle of a Nor'Easter and the sun is not set to shine on eastern PA or NJ, there is something deeper at play here. What is that, you may ask? The fact that, to some extent, every day since March 13th, 2020 has felt a lot like Groundhog Day across the world. We've had to social distance, wear a mask, wash our hands often, meet on Zoom, work from and go to school at home, wait for a stimulus payment, and generally be confused about many characteristics of COVID-19.
So, why are we bringing this up? To rehash the past which is also our present? Yes, but not only to do that. A major reason why it is so important to look back on the last year is to learn how we can move forward as a human race in smart, more effective and efficient ways.
Everyday is an opportunity to do this, but somewhere along the way, as human beings do, we forget or fall short of living up to this ideal. It's OK--no one is perfect. We all make mistakes.
From now on, let's make a vow to be smart, be aware, and capitalize on any opportunities that are for the greater good.
Whether it feels or actually is Groundhog Day, it shouldn't stop us from doing the right thing...always.
