March: In like a lion, out like a lamb. Well, it certainly doesn't feel like that here in NJ. We are experiencing high sustained winds, temperatures all over the place (one day it's 45, the next day it's 70, the day after that it's back down to 50, then up to 80). It just goes to show us that 'life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get'. We love this quote from Forrest Gump, because it's so true. Every day is a little something different, and that's OK.
Do we embrace and/or accept the uncertainty and unknown nature of life, or do we fight for control over any and every situation that comes our way? In order to continue living a more joy-filled and easygoing existence, it is in our best interest to stay calm so as to be more in a state of peace when you know what hits the fan or life throws curveball after curveball at us.
Another way to look at it is that 'every day is a winding road'. Think about it--there are multiple ways to get to the same place. It doesn't make one way better than the other--it just makes them different. Winding road's are more fun anyway. Staying straight and going at the same speed on the same road can get old quickly, become redundant/boring, and promote stagnation rather than being out of our comfort zone and living on the edge a little, therefore, promoting growth, ingenuity, and outside-of-the-box thinking.
So, let us be more open to whatever life throws at us, laugh a little more, and don't sweat the small stuff. Even if age-old euphemisms like 'in like a lion and out like a lamb' ring true some of the time, it doesn't hurt modernizing them a little to 'in like a lion and out like a lion' or 'in like a lamb out like a lamb'. These can be just as true, and even truer, than the original saying.
Have an Exciting end of March!
