It's Memorial Day weekend, and what do we have upon us? A Super Soaked Saturday and Sunday--a wonderfully wet weekend, if you will. How is it wonderfully wet, you may ask? You wouldn't usually use the word 'wonderful' to describe something 'wet' unless it was a really hot day and you're taking a dip in the pool or jumping in the ocean to cool off.
Well, here in NJ, we've had 3 weeks of very dry weather, so in a sense, we needed the rain! The grass was starting to look like straw. The flowers that bloomed on their own were starting to wither. Although it may not be the most fun out in the rain (we love it here but not everyone does), it is very necessary to having things grow and blossom around us.
Water is a cleansing thing--we use it to clean the dishes, to clean the outside of our bodies when we shower, to clean the inside of our bodies from toxins. It is also used to clean our souls with the use of 'Holy Water'.
And, that brings us to Trinity Sunday, which is today. In short, it is a day the Catholic Church pays tribute to the Holy Trinity: The Father (God), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is mentioned in the song, 'American Pie' by Don McLean. He refers to them as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Fun fact!
