Being that our Founder/CEO's birthname is James, we felt it was most appropriate to share a little bit about Saint James as it is his feast day today, July 25th.
St. James, also called James, son of Zebedee, or James the Greater, (born, Galilee, Palestine—died 44 AD, Jerusalem), was one of the Twelve Apostles, distinguished as being in Jesus' innermost circle and the only apostle whose martyrdom is recorded in the New Testament. This can be found in Acts, Chapter 12, Verse 2: "And he killed James, the brother of John, with the sword."
His day is considered the most iconic day on the Camino calendar. His remains are believe to be buried in Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
He is known as St. James the Greater, and is a patron saint of both Spain and Galicia. He's known in Spanish as Santiago and is also the Patron Saint of Guatemala, Nicaragua and of fishermen.
