Last night, we had the distinct pleasure of attending the James Taylor and Jackson Browne concert at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ. What a night it was! As we sat on the lawn of this cool outdoor venue, we were taken aback by all of the great musicianship and harmonies brought to the stage from both of these stellar singer-songwriters.
The only way we can describe James Taylor's voice is that it is as if he's having a conversation with you through music. His voice is so smooth and effortless that it doesn't seem like he's trying at all on the acoustic only songs. From Copperline to Carolina in My Mind to How Sweet it Is to Sweet Baby James to Fire and Rain and so much more, he and his bandmates really stole the show. We loved his stories in between songs. Even though he has been doing this for several decades, he still has an honest, almost timid way about him when telling jokes and stories behind songs. Not only this, but he even brought a stool you might see at an open mic night to sit down for certain songs. So cool! To us, it is inviting the audience to sit down, relax with him, and make it seem like he's singing right to you in an intimate way.
Bottom line is that if you've never had a chance to see him live, it is definitely worth doing so.
Have a Happy Thursday and stay cool out there! We are in the middle of Heatwave #6 in NJ this summer.
