Hope you are having a great week so far. We wanted to check in with you in a short, yet sweet post here. What have you been doing for self-care? We've been resting our voice(s) as much as possible, because it has sounded like a hint of laryngitis for the past 3 days. It's crazy, because we can talk and sing really low and really high, but anywhere in the middle, which is our normal singing and speaking voice, is like someone is muting it. If you've ever heard of the term, 'it sounds like you've got a frog in your throat', then you'd be right on the money with how our week has been running sessions. All in all, it's been a bit of a struggle, but has allowed us the opportunity to think outside of the box and get creative for running sessions and not missing one. We've done pre-recordings and sent them to people. We've done rounds of various instruments (one song on piano, one song on guitar, one song on ukulele, and one improvisational jam on the hang drum, and then repeat this for a couple rounds) instrumental wise. We've even played popular songs and whistled the main melody, encouraging others to sing along with any words they know.
The moral of the story is that just because something isn't ideal doesn't mean we have to stop dead in our tracks. It might just mean it's time to think differently about something, adapt and pivot to make the most out of the situation.
Remember, we have to take care of ourselves as much as possible. If we don't, then who will? In doing so, we not only become a better verison of ourselves for ourselves, but for everyone else in our lives.
TGIF!
