We were honored to have been a part of the annual Special Olympics (SONJ) Torch Run put together by Law Enforcement in the state of NJ. After a warm-up run to meet at ShopRite on Route 206, we joined the Bordentown Police Department for a 5K distance during the first leg of the run. It was inspiring to say the least. Led by a police escort, the entire right lane was blocked so no one could be there except our running group. To say it was cool doesn't do it justice...because it was unforgettable. Since we support and serve many individuals in the special needs community, we know the importance of exercise as well as learning the many things you learn from sports: compromise, collaboration, hard work, perserverance, spatial awareness, teamwork, creativity, sportsmanship, fair-play. Let us always keep these in mind at all times in life, not just in sports.
Already looking forward to next year's run!
