Happy Cinco de Mayo, May 5th, 5/5. Yes, this is mostly the same post as yesterday, but with a few additions...
Before you go eating quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, make salsa and guacamole with chips, drink a margarita, or put on a sombrero, let's take a minute to remember why we celebrate this day. What is its importance? Do you know the origin of it? If not, here it is:
Cinco de Mayo, also called Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, is a holiday celebrated in parts of Mexico and the United States in honour of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III. This day is a very important one to Mexico's independence, so it's no wonder why it is still so widely celebrated.
Have a Wacky Wonderful Wednesday singing songs like 'La Bamba', 'La Cucaracha', 'Senorita', 'Despacido', 'Oye Como Va', 'Tequila', 'Guantanamera', or 'Bailamos'. Listen to 'Ring of Fire' by Johnny Cash with the horn section behind him, or put on a talented and fun Mariachi Band to get the hips moving.
