I definitely agree that there is something special about singing a song right after you've written it. It still has this surreal quality to it as if it isn't quite yours yet, and that you're seeing and singing something for the first time with eyes and ears of awe and wonder.

Luck--isn't that the place where hard work and opportunity meet? If this is the case, then it's not so much luck that comes into play for this scenario, but rather being at the right place at the right time. For instance, if you have a home studio set-up and just wrote a song, it's easy to capture it onto a recording being that you are right next to all your recording equipment. Similarly, if you are in a professional studio when you wrote a specific song, you can capture it right away as well.
