Happy Wednesday! Hope you are doing well. We are definitely in the dog days of summer lately as it's been nothing but 'hot hot hot' out there. While we're enjoying the beach, the ocean, parks, amusement parks, waterparks, carnivals, outdoor movie nights during these sweltering months, let us not forget the essentials to having a good time while keeping our bodies in tip-top shape:
1. Put on sun-tan lotion, and then re-applying at least once throughout the day (if you're spending an extended amount of time outside);
2. Bring lots of liquid with you (preferably water and possibly an extra hyrdration drink like Gatorade or Powerade). It's important to replenish our bodies with liquid while we're out in the sun. You may not think you are getting dehydrated if you are not continuously sweating, but you may be. It's better to be safe than sorry;
3. If you feel you are getting too hot (dripping with sweat, feeling your skin burning, dry-mouthed), then find a cool place, preferably inside in the air conditioning. Even if it's not your house or someone's house, find a store. If you are nowhere near an indoor facility, then at least find some shade. And, even better, find some shade with water near it like a beach/lake that has trees surrounding it. This may seem like common sense, but might be missed because you're so in the mode of having fun.
Remember, we only live once, so let's make that life as long and as lively as possible.
